Fly Cathay Pacific to Ho Chi Minh City for three nights at the first class Windsor Plaza (p48) or the deluxe Sheraton Saigon (p50). While here, we recommend prebooking a visit to the nearby Cu Chi Tunnels, an enlightening tour offering an insight into the intense resilience of the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War. DAY 12 Vietnam Airlines flight to Siem Reap where you will be met and transferred to the first class Sokha Angkor Hotel (p82) or the deluxe Sofitel Royal Angkor (p84) for three nights. You may decide to explore the temples on our prebookable full day tour taking in Angkor Thom, The Bayon, the Elephant Terrace and the incredible Angkor Wat. DAY 1
Fly British Airways to Tokyo's Narita airport arriving the following day. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to your transfer to the first class Keio Plaza (p105) or deluxe Imperial Hotel (p105) for the next two nights. Tokyo, Japan's capital is a vast, modern city which can easily be explored on the excellent public transport system or alternatively many tours are available locally including to the magnificent Imperial Palace or a cruise on Lake Hakone.
DAY 4
Transfer to Tokyo's station for your high speed journey through the Japanese countryside aboard the Bullet Train to Kyoto. On a clear day you can expect magnificent views of Mount Fuji as you race past. On arrival into Kyoto, you will be met and transferred to the first class Rhiga Royal (p105) or the deluxe Westin Miyako (p105) for three nights. Nestled amid the surrounding mountains, Kyoto offers many tranquil temples and parks dating from its era as the Japanese capital. We recommend taking one of the many excursions available locally, perhaps to the enchanting Nijo Castle or to nearby Nara, another of Japan's former capitals and home to many scenic and historic sites.
