This small, comfortable resort is the ideal base for a number of soft adventure activities and our two day tour offers the chance to really experience the pristine countryside in this part of the country, both on foot and from the back of an elephant.
DAY 1
Depart Vientiane this morning for your journey along highway 10 to Vang Vieng. On your journey north through this mountainous region enjoy stops at local villages and take in the dramatic scenery that surrounds this remote and mountainous region of Laos. Before arriving in Vang Vieng rest at Nam Ngum Lake, this inland lake and its dam provide a source of water for the country and many of its islands are inhabited by local villagers. Arrive in Vang Vieng in time for lunch at a local restaurant. Famous amongst backpackers the scenery dwarfs the small town of Vang Vieng and its riverside setting. This afternoon enjoy a boat trip on the Nam Song River to take in your surroundings. Spend a little time at leisure to explore this small town before arriving at your basic accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay.
DAY 1
Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the Elephant Park Project area. Here you will be introduced to the Asian elephants and go for a short scenic ride through the stunning landscape, making your way through small forests and along the Nam Khan River up to Tad Sae waterfalls (please note the trail differs during the dry season January to August). After a pleasant lunch you will start on a light trek (three to four hours) through the countryside taking you into a Khmu village where you get an insight into the everyday life and culture of this hilltribe. The village is nestled at the foot of a mountain range and most of the people here are farmers and fishermen and live a traditional agricultural way of life. Return to the Laos Spirit Resort for dinner and overnight.
DAY 1
Transfer to the local pier in Luang Prabang where you will board a traditional boat for a journey upstream on the Mekong River to Pakbeng. Stop en route to visit the sacred Buddha caves, Tham Ting and Tham Phoum housing hundreds of Buddha statues. Overnight at the Pakbeng Lodge.
DAY 2
From Pakbeng continue overland towards Oudomxai passing through the beautiful landscape dotted with small H'mong and Khmu villages. Arrive into Oudomxai and climb That Phouxay for panoramic views over the town and its surroundings. Continuing north, the road gets more and more mountainous with H'mong villages built along the crests. There will be the chance to stop and visit some of these villages before arriving in Luang Namtha early evening. Dinner and overnight at the Boat Landing Guesthouse.
DAY 2
Enjoy a day exploring the abundant nature surrounding Vang Vieng with a combination of biking and trekking with kayaking also available.
DAY 2
A morning trek to the grave of Henri Mouhot, the first European to visit Luang Prabang and the man who `rediscovered' Angkor in Cambodia. Return to Luang Prabang, where we recommend you include an extra night's stay.

DAY 3
Depart Vang Vieng this morning and continue towards the World Heritage site of Luang Prabang. Journey by mountainous and winding roads taking time to stop off and enjoy the scenery at viewpoints along the way. Later today rest at the village of Phoukhoun, a small village at an altitude of 5,250 feet and home to a daily market that thrives with traders selling local produce from villages within the mountains. Continue your journey along snaking roads passing Kamu and H'mong villages with a stop at Houn Xay village to explore village life and its daily routines. Arrive in Luang Prabang late afternoon and transfer to your chosen hotel.

DAY 3
Depending on water levels (an alternative will be arranged during the dry season January to May ) cruise down the Nam Tha River for two hours exploring the daily life of the different minority tribes. Your guide will explain to you the customs of each of the tribes and you will have the chance to visit a Khmu tribe and Sop Dud village (Lanten tribe). DAY 4 Return overland to Luang Prabang passing through the beautiful scenery of mountains, villages and rice fields.
