At other times of the year temperatures range from 25ēC to 35ēC in August. Local Transport: Bicycles are an excellent way to see the best of Hue. Shops: Open 9-5 Mon-Sat, Hoi An is perfect for bargain tailor made suits, shirts and silks. A number of quality art galleries are beginning to open up. Souvenirs: Hue is the home of the finest conical hats in Vietnam. Great for keeping the sun at bay. Dong Ba market in Hue is a popular place for all manner of weird and wonderful souvenirs. Hoi An has many delightful tailor shops and local artists. The ancient city of Hue sits on the banks of the Perfume River and is full of wonderful palaces, temples and tombs dating back through time. The charming UNESCO World Heritage listed coastal town of Hoi An is ideal for a few days relaxing on the beach or exploring the town. Its faded colonial grandeur and slow pace of life never fail to charm and beguile. Travelling here is immensely rewarding and you will find pleasant surprises at every turn. see & do HUE This was once the Imperial capital and is now protected for future generations to enjoy by UNESCO. Sitting on the banks of the delightfully named Perfume River you will find amazing citadels, fabulous palaces and royal tombs. Many of the sights can be reached by river and this makes an excellent way to see the city. Do be sure to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda set in lovely gardens and dating back to the 15th Century, just a short distance from the city. In more recent times the tunnels at Vinh Moc and the former de-militarised zone (DMZ) are a moving monument to a turbulent past. HOI AN The town was once one of the most important trading ports in the region and today makes a delightful place to explore with many parts seemingly untouched by history. Mixed within the charming rural French architecture, there is an unmistakable Chinese influence, you will find a whole host of tailors, art galleries and silk merchants. 58 This is a perfect place to spend time relaxing. The warm water shores of Cua Dai Beach provide a perfect bolthole to relax for a week in the sun. CHINA BEACH AND THE MARBLE MOUNTAINS Just outside Danang you will come across the Marble Mountains, remnants of islands, of which five hillocks are all that remain.
