DAY 1
Depart the UK today for your overnight flight via Bangkok with Thai Airways arriving the next day in the capital city of Vietnam Hanoi. During your two day visit to Hanoi experience the many sights, sounds and smells of one of South East Asia's most delightful and enigmatic cities. Visit the narrow alleys and tree lined boulevards of the famous Old Quarter. See the Ngoc Son and Quan Thanh temples where offerings are made to Gods who protect the city from northern invaders. Take time to learn about Ho Chi Minh on a visit to his Mausoleum (closed October and November) and the simple house where he lived, then explore Vietnam's first university, the Temple of Literature. Spend your first evening in Hanoi visiting a traditional water puppet show and on your second evening journey east taking in the scenery en route to Halong Bay and your accommodation for one night.

DAY 5
Escape the hustle and bustle of this northern city for the day with a visit to the Da reservoir, cruise elegantly on this man made lake visiting a number of ethnic minority villages complete with stilt houses and local farms surrounded by a patchwork of paddy fields. Drive back to Hanoi late afternoon for your overnight stay.

DAY 6
This morning depart Hanoi by Vietnam Airlines flight for the city of Hue. On arrival meet your guide and transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay. This afternoon start your tour of this historic city with a visit to the Imperial Citadel and its moated ruins. Later visit Tu Duc's Mausoleum, one of many historical emperors' tombs within this Imperial city. Return to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure to explore the city by night.
