DAY 1
Fly via Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific to Hanoi, arriving in Vietnam's enchanting capital the next day. On arrival, transfer to the first class Sunway hotel (p68) or deluxe Sheraton Hanoi (p70) for your next three nights. To make the most of your time here we would recommend taking our Hanoi excursion package. A City Tour introduces you to delightful Hanoi with its pretty tree lined boulevards and famous French Quarter, taking you to the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the One Pillar Pagoda and the 11th Century Temple of Literature. Our prebookable Ho Chi Minh City excursion package offers an excellent introduction to this dynamic city, which was formerly known as Saigon and served as the capital of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. It includes a City Tour, half day tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels and a full day in the Mekong Delta. The Ho Chi Minh City Tour provides an insight into the past, present and future of the city, taking you to the city's China Town, the famous Cho Lon market and the History Museum, which offers a fascinating alternative perspective into Vietnam's history. The Cu Chi Tunnels are an incredible complex of underground passageways that were used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. At its peak up to 10,000 people were housed in this maze of narrow passageways, sleeping quarters, armourments, kitchens and command centres. Visiting the Mekong Delta offers an enchanting slice of traditional Vietnamese life, with verdant paddy fields and bustling floating markets. Our tour takes you to the prosperous town of My Tho, a short cruise along the river and to the picturesque Vinh Trang Pagoda.

DAY 8
Extend your stay for three nights at your choice of beach destination: NHA TRANG Fly approx. one hour north with Vietnam Airlines to the resort of Nha Trang and either the first class Sunrise Beach Resort (p56) or deluxe Ana Mandara (p57). PHAN THIET Approx. three hours drive north of Ho Chi Minh City, the relaxing beaches of Phan Thiet offer an excellent opportunity to unwind. Stay at the first class Blue Ocean Resort (p52) or for deluxe itineraries the superior first class Novotel Ocean Dunes Resort (p53). HOI AN A 70 minute flight with Vietnam Airlines to Danang and a road transfer of just under an hour takes you to the charming town of Hoi An. Stay at the superior first class Golden Sand Resort (p62) or deluxe Nam Hai (p63), both set on the beach just outside of town.
DAY 5
Fly south with Vietnam Airlines to the bright lights and bustling city streets of Ho Chi Minh City for three nights at the first class Windsor Plaza (p48) or the deluxe Sheraton Saigon (p50). 42

Depart Ho Chi Minh City for your journey home via Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific arriving at Heathrow the following day.
DAY 11
Return flight or drive back to Ho Chi Minh City before your overnight flight to Heathrow with Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong.
