Rome, the eternal city an incomparable experience, rich with endless historical treasures.

Known as `Caput Mundi' (capital of the world), Rome, is the most compelling and fascinating of all Italy's historical cities. There is arguably more to see in Rome than any other city in the world, with the relics of over two thousand years packed into the sprawling metropolis.
INFORMATION Population: 2,700,000. Airport: Rome Fiumincino. See p12-13 for flight information. Transfers: Return transfers are not included. On arrival at Rome airport you can easily either take a train to Termini station (approx. £6, 30 minutes) or take a taxi to the city centre (approx £35, 30 minutes). Alternatively private car transfers can be prebooked at a supplement. Shops: Most shops open Mon to Sat 9am-1pm, 3.30-7.30pm, although you may find some food shops closed Mon am or pm. Banks: Open Mon to Fri 8.30am-1pm or 1.30pm, and 2.30pm or 3-4pm.

MONUMENTS OF ROME £27 per person A half day sightseeing of the essential Rome. This castle tour offers a taste of Caracalla's baths, the Arch of Constantine and the Colosseum, then on to the celebrated Appian Way, the route often used by ancient Romans. ROME BY NIGHT £59 per person From the comfort of a coach explore the Eternal city at night. Departing from Piazza San Bernardo, the tours drives through the famous `Dolce Vita' of Via Veneto, Palazzo Margherita, Porta Pinciana, Villa Borghese to arrive at the Trevi Fountain. Continuing on to Via Nazionale, descending towards Piazza Venezia. The itinerary will also pass through the Capitol, the Imperial Forum, the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, the Aventine Hill, the Circus Maximus and Piazza Navona, Castel Sant'Angelo, and the fabulous St.Peter's Basilica. TIVOLI & VILLA D'ESTE (LATIUM) £43 per person Hill town Tivoli is probably the most popular place to visit from Rome. Tivoli is a small ancient town famous for its soothing spring of `Acqua Albulea' (sulphureous baths). The tour continues to Villa D'Este, famous for its water system, the architecture of its gardens, the pavilions, the artificial caves and the dozens of fountains dotted around this beautifully groomed park.
