In a picturesque corner of Italy, at the water's edge of Lake Orta, the San Rocco started life as a 17th Century monastery, and is now a fabulous four star hotel, with high standards of service and facilities. Villa Gippini, a true jewel of art history, reects here all its splendour in the clear water of the lake. This rened and elegant residence was completely restructured, in 2004, to open its doors to the guests of the San Rocco hotel. LOCATION ² Directly beside the lake, about five minutes walk from the

pedestrianised square, waterfront cafés, restaurants and elegant buildings of Orta San Giulio, and 45 minutes by private road transfer from Malpensa airport. FEATURES ² The hotel's lakefront garden terrace houses the swimming pool and gazes out to the charming isle of San Giulio. With an excellent reputation for good food and impeccable service, the restaurant has large arched windows overlooking the lake, and in the Mezzaluna bar, low key entertainment comes in the form of music by piano bar performers. Leisure facilities include a sauna and solarium, and a health and beauty centre offering massages and treatments (payable locally). The villa is interconnected to the Hotel by a bridge made out of a single granite slab. The bridge opens to the first floor of the Villa, where the most prestigious milieus are located, including reading rooms and a room with a billiard d'époque. Guests are invited to use the amenities at the San Rocco hotel as described above. ACCOMMODATION ² 74 rooms, varying in size and style, and divided between the original and new buildings, but each with airconditioning, television, telephone, minibar and bathroom.
