Set amid a forest, surrounding the small spring lake that gives the area its name, the resort offers high standards of accommodation and excellent leisure facilities approximately 30 minutes drive from Rovaniemi. As you enter the hotel you will be struck by the warm and relaxed ambience. The lodge style reception has a comfortable lounge area with stone fireplace and a warm and cosy bar. Buffet breakfasts and three-course waiter served or buffet style evening meals are served in the attractive restaurant with views of the forest and lake. There is a further bar on the second floor that is ideal for small groups. For a traditional Finnish lakeside sauna experience, you must visit the original 1950's sauna house that was built for the first visitors to the area close to the lake. The smoke sauna lies on the opposite shore of the lake and both saunas are beautifully positioned so you can take a dip in the refreshing water after your sauna. A range of massage, herbal and Lappish treatments are also available.The resort also offers swimming in the lake, mountain bike rental, hiking and Nordic walking routes, trout fishing (licenses available from the hotel), Frisbee-golf course, a rowing boat, off-road, all-terrain vehicle tours, husky and horse centre visits and a climbing and abseiling wall. Arctic Safaris conveniently has a safari house within the hotel where you can hire hiking shoes, outdoor clothes, Nordic walking sticks and fishing equipment although they are included free of charge when guided activities are booked. You can book all resort based activities as well as those described on p35 at reception. Groups can also arrange extra activities such as paintballing and overnight hikes to the wilderness on request. The comfortable Standard hotel rooms have a television and bathroom with a shower. Some rooms have a sofa bed or bunk beds for children. The high quality, stylish chalets feature a bedroom with twin beds, lounge with fireplace, television and DVD player, modern kitchenette and a stylish bathroom with shower and sauna. There is also a mezzanine area under the eaves with twin beds recommended for children. 36
