CHAMONIX Chamonix is a lively and bustling mountain town bursting with attractions and traditional activities. Set in a deep sided valley, the resort is dominated by Mont Blanc and its magnificent glaciers, that tower above the town. This alone is the reason why many visitors come to Chamonix and for those wishing to get up close the Aiguille du Midi cable car whisks visitors to a dizzying 12,605 feet with awe inspiring views. The town is home to a wide range of activities including superb hiking, climbing and mountain biking and an 18-hole golf course, sports centre and tennis courts. Chamonix is also a great base to enjoy a wide range of other activities from paragliding to whitewater rafting. However if this all sounds like too much effort don't worry, with the excellent network of lifts and cable cars everyone can admire the views and take in the magnificent scenery. LAKE ANNECY This beautiful lake is surrounded by majestic mountains, historic towns and villages, castles and historic points of interest.
Talloires is a charming town in which to relax and soak up the wonderful scenery. There are lakeside bathing areas, pleasure boats and ferries and a variety of watersports including windsurfing and kayaking on offer, as well as two golf courses, hiking in the mountains and cycle paths around the lake. The high quality hotels and restaurants ensure that visitors have a luxurious base in which to stay. Annecy itself is a large lakeside town with an attractive promenade, a wide variety of shops and delightful historic quarter with an old jail, cobbled streets and castle and excellent range of watersports. PLACES TO VISIT There are some wonderful places to visit with your hire car within easy reach of Chamonix and Lake Annecy. EVIAN, THONON AND YVOIRE, LAKE GENEVA An easy hour's drive is the magnificent Lake Geneva. Yvoire is a delightful mediaeval village with a charming trafficfree centre full of historic buildings, craft shops and wonderful restaurants. Thonon les Bains and Evian les Bains are spa towns with charming gardens, delightful promenades, thermal spas and at Evian there is an international golf course.
MORZINE AND LINDERETS Morzine is an attractive Savoyarde market town in the beautiful Portes du Soleil. The area is excellent for walkers with a range of paths for all abilities. Superb views of the town can be gained from the Pleney cable car and there is a charming church, delightful restaurants and wide variety of shops. Nearby Linderets is known as the goat village due to the mountain goats that roam freely. Visitors can even buy food to feed them! LA CLUSAZ La Clusaz is a charming mountain village with a typically Savoyarde church and excellent hiking opportunities easily reached on the network of cable cars. There are also plenty of other activities including a summer toboggan run, golf, minigolf and a weekly market. CAR HIRE Car hire is included with holidays to France to give you the ultimate freedom to explore. The car allocated will be on the basis of party size. When reviewing car details please consider the amount of passengers and luggage being taken. Infant seats (obligatory) have not been accounted for when allocating your vehicle and a larger vehicle may be required.
