A quaint fishing village and a modern, spa town. piran & portoroz Portoroz ­ the `Port of Roses' is a cosmopolitan `Riviera' style resort with a coastline lined with large hotels, restaurants, cafes, shops and palm trees whilst the unspoilt, medieval old seaport of Piran with its narrow streets and Venetian architecture still holds its natural charm. Piran is at the tip of a peninsula which is the westernmost part of Slovenia. The old buildings surrounding Tartini square, the marina and lining the narrow streets are still the same as they were many years ago, with shutters and flower filled balconies. Find a rock or a spot along the promenade to watch the yachts pass by. Just 30 minutes walk from Piran, you will find yourself in a metropolis of hotels, spas and shops in Portoroz. The promenade has gardens, a beach and swimming areas, which are sprawled with tourists enjoying the sunshine glistening off the Adriatic Sea.
