An elegant cosmopolitan town, with a wonderful lakeside promenade lined with palm trees and flowers. Montreux enjoys superb scenery, an unusually mild climate and there is always something going on from major exhibitions to the Jazz festival in July.
INFORMATION Airport: Geneva. Local Transport: Regular trains to Geneva and regular steamer stopping at Montreux on Lake Geneva to explore the region. Fly Luggage: Operates to Montreux. Transfers: 2nd class rail transfers included. 1st class rail travel is available for a supplement of £16. Transfer time is 1¼ hours.
NB The Montreux Jazz Festival takes place between Jul04-18. During this time the resort is very busy and noise may be heard from some hotel rooms and public areas.
You cannot fail to be impressed with Montreux on the Swiss Riviera in the French speaking part of Switzerland. It has it all from the romantic castle `Château de Chillon', lakeside gardens, cafés, smart shops and restaurants.
