This small family run hotel is in a good position right on the edge of Lake Brienz, just a stones throw from the centre of the pretty village of Bönigen. The Oberlanderhof is cosy, simple and full of charm, enjoying a superb location and providing an ideal base to explore the Lake and its surrounds. Bönigen, a more peaceful alternative to Interlaken, is just ten minutes away by regular bus which stops just outside the hotel. Decorated inside in a traditional Swiss style, the hotel has a lounge and a small café/bar serving snacks or salads and good value simple meals. A nice sunny breakfast room affords wonderful views over the lake where afternoon tea may be taken. The hotel also enjoys a popular lakeside terrace and there are several good restaurants in Bönigen and Interlaken. All rooms are basic and comfortable with shower, radio, telephone and television. The Standard rooms overlook the mountains or village, whilst Superior rooms overlook the lake and spectacular mountains, early booking is recommended.

neuhaus, lake thun
An informal and charming hotel so near and yet so far from the bustle of Interlaken. The Neuhaus is the closest of the Lake Thun hotels to Interlaken and is set in lush green meadows that lead down to the lake. From the Neuhaus, there are excellent train, bus and boat connections, the steamer landing stage and bus stop (free of charge) is right in front of the hotel which will take you to Interlaken in just ten minutes (the bus service runs until early evening). A delightful small marina and public swimming area where you can bathe in the glorious lake, and the 18-hole golf course is just 200 yards away. The Bödelibad in Interlaken with its indoor and outdoor swimming pools and wellness area are also free of charge. The hotel's restaurant serves wholesome set four-course meals and has superb views of the lake and mountains. For the more energetic there is a private watersports centre where you may try your hand at windsurfing and sailing on the lake. Children can run around in the little play area amidst the lush green fields in front of your hotel. All rooms are comfortable and located in an annexe with bath or shower, telephone, television, tea and coffee making facilities and balcony with partial lakeviews. Single rooms have no balcony and are in the main building. The hotels' Family rooms are more spacious and some feature bunk beds.
