Villars is an alluring, peaceful resort located in the heart of the Alps in the Lake Geneva region. With pretty picture book chalets and spectacular views over the Rhone valley, this resort offers relaxation, sport and culture.
INFORMATION Airport: Geneva. Local Transport: Trains and buses link Villars to the rest of Lake Geneva plus local taxis are available. Fly Luggage: Possible on outbound journey only. Transfers: 2nd class rail transfers are included. 1st class rail travel is available for a supplement of £16. Transfer time is 2½ hours. Villars-Gryon is a family-friendly resort and was awarded the `Families Welcome' label in 1998 by the Swiss Tourism Federation. With a swimming pool, ice rink, tennis, squash, fitness centre and bowling, Villars provides everything for your spare time and relaxation located at the Sports Centre. Every day during the summer you can join cultural and sports activities or discovery trips in the region from hiking to nordic walking. Villars-Gryon provides 80 miles of marked mountain bike trails of all levels of difficulty. The resort's 18-hole golf course is perched on a plateau facing south toward the Alps and Mont Blanc in an Alpine setting 5,250 feet above sea level.

FOOD & DRINK There are many restaurants within the resort to sample an alternative dining experience to the gastronomy offered within your chosen hotel including French, Italian and local specialities. Alpine restaurants, bars and a nightclub can also be found. CULTURAL HIGHLIGHTS Many of the regions cultural attractions can be easily reached from Villars. The most visited of all the monuments is the Château de Chillon built in the 13th Century on the edge of the Lake Geneva. WALKING There are over 186 miles of marked walking path with popular walking trails through the alpine pastures, visiting farms along the way. On the wine trail you can visit the cellars to taste the local delights. There are also mystery walks where you need to look for the signs with the questions installed directly on the eight hiking trails.

Minibus excursions can be arranged locally to some of Switzerland's top destinations on a day trip such as Gstaad and Gruyere, Montreux, the Chateau de Chillon and the Glacier 3000 at Diablerests. Within 30 minutes you can be surrounded by Mont Blanc, the Eiger and the Matterhorn. VILLARS GRYON FREEDOM PASS The `Villars Gryon Freedom Pass', provided free of charge by the hotels in VillarsGryon, allows you to benefit fully from the local infrastructure once you stay one night in the resort between June and October. Your hotel will provide you with a `keycard', which will allow you to take unlimited advantage of many services for certain times during the summer season including gondolas, entrance to the sports centre, access to the training installations of the golf club, Gryon miniature steam train Parc and Minigolf, outdoor tennis and many bus lines.
