INTRODUCTION
PRASLIN
see & do
Praslin boasts natural diverse beauty in many forms. Choosing from the experiences below, you will have the opportunity to enjoy different aspects of this exquisite island, as well as the neighbouring paradise of La Digue. ENCHANTED WALK IN THE VALLÉE DE MAI As well as an abundance of verdant flora and fauna, the legendary Vallée de Mai is where the world's largest nut, the Coco de Mer grows. The magical rainforest, believed by General Gordon of Khartoum to be the original site of the Garden of Eden with the Coco de Mer as its forbidden fruit, is a haven of nature at its most pristine. As you stroll the Vallée's paths, marvel at the mysterious shafts of light through the canopy of trees, listening to the calls of rare endemic birds and see diminutive frogs, lizards, chameleons and the famous Seychelles Black Parrot. This half day excursion is a fantastic insight into the natural beauty of the Seychelles, a brilliant contrast to the beach scenery. Price per person: £29 or £23 for children Plus La Digue: £39 or £33 for children
ENCHANTED WALK IN THE VALLÉE DE MAI + ANSE LAZIO We would suggest adding the optional extension of visiting the world famous beach of Anse Lazio after your time in the Vallée de Mai experience detailed above. Widely recognised as one of the world's most spectacular and most photographed beaches, Anse Lazio represents the perfection of much of the Seychelles pristine coastline. An experience of Anse Lazio will give you time for your feet to sink into the powder soft sands and be lapped by clear waters, while you capture this unimaginable beauty on camera. Price per person: £37 or £29 for children (excludes lunch) LA DIGUE A miniature and timeless island, La Digue lies 4½ miles south-east of Praslin. The island's pristine beaches are decorated by divinely formed granite boulders and traditional modes of transport such as bicycles and ox-carts reflect the relaxed pace of life throughout the island. Travel by a traditional schooner from Praslin's Baie Sainte Anne Jetty for approximately 45 minutes before arriving at the quaint quay of La Passe on La Digue.
On arrival enjoy some fresh coconut and choose whether to set out on your own voyage of discovery for the day and explore La Digue on your own by bicycle, or take the escorted option, where you will learn about L'Union Estate. Here, in landscaped gardens bordering imposing granite boulders and the attractive Emmanuelle House, you can learn how coconut oil is extracted and the flesh dried. Then visit Anse Source d'Argent the world's most photographed beach and site of Bounty and Bacardi advertisements to name a few. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant, followed by a scenic journey and end your trip relaxing on either Grande Anse or Anse Severe, two stunning beaches that will take your breath away. Price per person: Unescorted, bicycle option £37 per person/child Escorted and including lunch £61 per adult, £48 per child WHAT NOT TO MISS Cote d'Or and Anse Lazio are must-see idyllic beaches and the famous Vallée de Mai is a highly recommended change of scenery from the beach. The bird watching, snorkelling and diving in Praslin are also outstanding.
