LIFT PASS The Zillertal Superski Pass covers all lifts in the Zillertal including the Hintertux Glacier, Penken, Ahorn and Zell am Ziller. BEGINNERS Extensive and sunny nursery slopes are found at Ahorn, reached by cable-car whilst Penken offers some easy blues to progress to. INTERMEDIATES Mayrhofen offers excellent scope for intermediate skiers and boarders with over 625km of pistes to explore in the Ziller Valley, connected by ski bus or the local train. There are plenty of pistes for cruising with some enjoyable long runs at Rastkogel. ADVANCED Mayrhofen is home to Austria's steepest piste the Harakiri which is certainly challenging, and there are interesting routes from Penken to Schwendau. Some good off-piste can be found at the top of Horebergjoch and Rastkogel.
APRÈS SKI Mayrhofen's nightlife is lively but not rowdy, with a wide range of bars and clubs from umbrella après-ski bars to live music and clubs. Resort prices are reasonable and there is a good choice of restaurants. ACTIVITIES The villages along the Ziller Valley are well served by public bus and local train services and offer plenty of activities including 45km of cleared winter walks, tobogganing, ice-skating, curling bowling, snow tubing, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, paragliding, shopping and night skiing at Zell am Ziller as well as train services to Innsbruck and Salzburg. FAMILIES Day Kindergarten Wuppy's Kinderland', run by the tourist office for children from 3 months to 7 years, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Approximately e180 including lunch and one drink per day.
