RIO DE JANEIRO Famous beaches and stunning scenery are the trademarks of this marvellous city. Rio is a big vibrant city with exciting nightlife and some great restaurants. You will soon realise Sugar Loaf Mountain Corcovado that Copacabana is the heart of Rio with concerts and sporting activities taking place on the beach throughout the year. The main event is the firework display on New Years Eve that Rio carnival breathtaking as attracts Cariocas (citizens of Rio) in their thousands. If it's a party you are after then look no further, the Excelsior Copacabana is billed as the world's biggest party. The spectacular sightseeing is a must with the120 feet statue of Christ the Redeemer - one not to be missed. The statue is impressive but the view is Rio unravels below you. CARNIVAL IN RIO Four magical, intoxicating, crazy days of colour, noise, excitement, music and non-stop dancing. This is Rio de Janeiro at Carnival. The Carnivals great parades are on Sunday 03 and Monday 04 February 2008. Tickets can be requested through Kuoni prior to departure (prices vary from approx £259-£429 per person per day and are subject to availability), but we have no control over the location, price or quality of the seats. The punctuality of buses for transfers and excursions may also be affected, but please remember that during Carnival, anything goes! (Tickets may be cheaper in Rio but there is no guarantee of their availability locally). 108
