After breakfast enjoy a fascinating city tour of Cochin, discovering the historic Fort Cochin area and the elegant and hypnotic Chinese fishing nets that line the entrance to the harbour mouth. Continue onto St Francis Church, the first in the area to be built in European influenced style. In the evening you will be taken to a Kathakali dance show where you will witness the most elaborate of dance forms in Southern India.

After breakfast travel to Periyar. In the afternoon enjoy a visit to the wildlife reserve of Lake Periyar and see some of Indias most stunning landscapes. This morning embark on a rice boat cruise to Kumarakom, or the Venice of the East. This is the heartland of Keralas lagoons, palm fringed lakes and paddy fields interlinked with hundreds of winding canals, ferrying the traditional low slung boats that carry everything from people to fish. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure, perhaps lie in a hammock on the lakeshore and watch the world go by. Approx 100 miles (4 hours).
