A land of parched deserts sitting under impossibly blue skies, vast red sand dunes stretch out as far as the eye can see. At first this inhospitable landscape seems like it can hold no life at all but the plains abound with game and holidays here come with a sizeable dose of adventure. The thrill of watching the sunset and the sounds of the desert is the stuff that dreams are made of. Breathtaking scenery and an astonishing diversity of wildlife make this one of the most memorable places on earth. The Namib Desert is the oldest and most arid region in the world. One of the highlights are the clay pans of Soussusvlei which are enveloped by awe-inspiring deep red sand dunes. Etosha National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa and offers one of the best locations for game viewing and the spectacle of migrating wildlife in search of waterholes is breathtaking. The remote area of Damaraland is dominated by rugged mountain ranges, steep escarpments, ancient highlands and barren valleys. Its beauty is truly spectacular. The evocatively named Skeleton Coast is so called because of the treacherous nature of its coastline and is considered to be one of the most inhospitable places on the planet. With a strange beauty all of its own this mysterious and barren landscape is strangely enchanting. Namibia is an immensely rewarding place to visit, which manages that elusive mix of people, places, game and countryside perfectly.
