`A TRUE AFRICAN WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE AWAITS IN THIS UNSPOILT, DIVERSE AND BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. WHISPERING WATERWAYS AND VERDANT RESERVES ARE ABUNDANT WITH GAME AND HOME TO SOME OF THE BEST LODGES IN AFRICA' ANGOLA MALAWI ZAMBIA MOZAMBIQUE NAMIBIA ZIMBABWE BOTSWANA Gaborone SOUTH AFRICA LESOTHO SWAZILAND BOTSWANA Sitting right in the heart of Southern Africa, Botswana is a truly diverse land. One's mental images often conjure up stunning visions of reeds and waterways but in reality eighty percent of this huge country is actually desert. This wilderness destination is far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and the safari experiences are much more personal and exclusive than the national parks of East or South Africa. A `must-do' whilst in Botswana is game viewing by traditional dug-out canoe, or `mokoro', where you can silently glide through the maze of channels without disturbing the animals grazing on the banks nearby unforgettable! Undoubtedly the most famous and bewitching inland delta in the world, the Okavango, is the world's largest and can even be seen from space. It was formed millions of years ago by tectonic movement that created a mountain range blocking the exit of the main rivers that originate in the Angolan highlands. As a result they now fan out into a maze of channels, lagoons and islands and are literally teeming with wildlife that feast on the lush grasses. The birdlife here is spectacular, especially the haunting cry of the majestic African Fish Eagle. The Chobe National Park is the second largest in Botswana, sprawling over 4,000 square miles and including the diverse ecosystem of the Savute and Linyati marshes. Well known for its huge elephant population and also home to many of the big predators. Game viewing can be on land or by boat and the expert guides will help you spot an endless array of wildlife and birds in this area renowned for its scenery and sunsets. Botswana is `real Africa', you really get the impression of being in the heart of this magnificent continent and the safari experiences are second to none this surprising country will undoubtedly cast its spell over you.
