NILE ADVENTURE
A silent witness to the changes of many millennia, the magnificent Nile has seen the ebb and flow of civilisations, each benefiting from its bounty; all outlived by its timeless presence. There is no better way to absorb the atmosphere of Egypt than to see the nation's past and present from the Nile and there are no better vessels on the Nile than the exceptional Sun Boat III. The Sun Boat III with just 18 cabins including four suites is an intimate yacht and fully airconditioned. Fine dining on the promenade deck is à la carte, every day a choice of dishes including Egyptian delicacies. Each cabin offers Nile views with en suite facilities, television, CDplayer and minibar. A sundeck and pool offer an oasis from which to enjoy the passing spectacles of the Nile. Nile Cabins are located on the lower deck, Promenade Cabins on the middle deck and suites on the upper deck. DAY 1 Depart Heathrow for Cairo on Wednesday with EgyptAir arriving late evening. On arrival transfer by private car to the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo (p80) for three nights. During your stay a private car and visits to the Cairo Museum and the Giza Plateau to see the Pyramids has been included. DAY 4 Rise early on Saturday and fly to Abu Simbel to witness the great temples dedicated to Egypt's greatest pharaoh Ramses II. Continue to Aswan and board your yacht, Sun Boat III. After lunch sail in a Nile felucca around Kitchener's islands and Elephantine. DAY 5 Today includes a visit to the grand Temple of Philae, the unfinished Obelisk, the High Dam at Aswan and the Nubian Museum. Lunch is spent cruising the Nile to Kom Ombo with an afternoon visit to the Temple of Sobek. DAY 6 Set sail today for Selsela to visit the Greco Roman temple and the site of Selsela, rarely visited on cruising itineraries. Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu and onward to Esna. DAY 7 After visiting the Temple of Khnum cruise through the lock at Esna continuing to Luxor once known as the great city of Thebes. After lunch visit Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple. DAY 8 This morning visit the West Bank of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings and Queens. DAY 9 Morning sail northward to Dendera and the Temple of Hathor with overnight stay in Qena. DAY 10 An early sailing to Nagaa Hammadi and overland transfer to the Temple of Abydos. Return to Luxor in the afternoon. DAY 11 Disembark the Sun Boat III after breakfast on Saturday and transfer by private car to the beautiful retreat Al Moudira (p81). Alternatively, you may chose to stay at the Four Seasons in the resort of Sharm El Sheikh for the following two nights flying EgyptAir from Luxor. See p85 for details of the Four Seasons. DAY 13 Fly EgyptAir to Heathrow from Sharm El Sheikh/Luxor via Cairo arriving later the same day. Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner on cruise; breakfast in Cairo, Luxor and Sharm El Sheikh. Departures: Weekly every Wednesday.
