`DUBAI COMBINES THE COMFORTS AND CONVENIENCES OF THE WESTERN WORLD WITH THE UNIQUE CHARM AND ADVENTURE OF THE MIDDLE EAST; AN EXOTIC DESTINATION WITH A COSMOPOLITAN LIFESTYLE.'

DUBAI
From ancient souks to extravagant modern stores, fabulously lavish hotels to mud-walled wadi villages, Dubai is a destination of fascinating contrasts where old meets new and East meets West. Known as the Pearl of the Arabian Gulf, the city clusters round an exquisite creek, the atmospheric alleys of its old town taking a twisted path to souks of gold, silks and spices. Modern Dubai is punctuated with gardens, sprinkled with stylish stores. Dubai is really a tale of two cities, Bur Dubai and Deira are divided by the Creek, it is the main artery of the city and its clear and elegant serpentine provides the most picturesque backdrop. To come close to understanding the paradox of Dubai, take a guided tour of the city, past and present, its magnificent mosque, Al Fahidi Fort, historic wind tower houses and bustling harbour where everything from gin-palace yachts to traditional dhows and busy water-taxis ply the waves. Along the coast are excellent hotels, pristine sandy beaches and warm blue waters. Leisure options are unequalled: experience the thrill of dune driving or camel riding, explore the wadis, tee-off on one of Dubai's world-class golf courses, enjoy a dhow cruise or desert safari, shop to your heart's content or try your hand at scuba-diving, sailing or powerboat racing. As a delightful counterpoint visit the dramatic ridges of the imposing Hajar Mountains, the mountain fortress village of Hatta and the Heritage Village provide a fascinating insight into this area. The awesome expanse of the Arabian desert beckons you to discover its eerily romantic landscape and the Bedu tribes wait to welcome you. Amid the sophistication and cosmopolitan culture of Dubai, it is easy to forget that Muslim customs are observed. Please therefore respect the traditions of this beautiful and welcoming country. Please note that during the month of Ramadan commencing approximately Sep 02 2008 there will be some restrictions on alcohol consumption, restaurant facilities and entertainment. Dubai's speed of development is meteoric and the ongoing construction both at sea (development of offshore islands complete with housing and hotels) and on land is very evident. Dubai's excellent flight connections make it perfect for combining with many other destinations such as the Maldives, Sri Lanka as well as the Far East.
