E & O THAI TREASURES
DAY 1 SUN Depart from Heathrow flying Eva Air overnight to Bangkok. Transfer to a Standard riverview room at The Oriental (p46) for one night. DAY 3 TUE Board E & O before afternoon tea is served as you travel into Northern Thailand. Later enjoy dinner and spend overnight aboard. DAY 4 WED After breakfast disembark in Chiang Mai for a full day's excursion. Choose from a city Tour, Elephant camp and ride, or handicraft workshops and boutiques. Dinner and overnight on board. DAY 5 THU Visit Si Satchanalai, part of the northernmost citadel of the ancient Khmer empire and the kingdom of Sukhothai. Explore the impressive 13th Century Buddhist temples within this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue south before disembarking at Lampang for a horsedrawn carriage ride. Return to the E & O for dinner and overnight stay. DAY 6 FRI Arrive in Bangkok after breakfast and stay overnight in a Standard riverview room at The Oriental (p46) for one night. DAY 7 SAT Fly Eva Air to Heathrow, arriving the next day.
SINGAPORE TO BANGKOK
DAY 1 SUN Fly British Airways to Singapore arriving Monday for three nights in a Horizon club deluxe room at the Shangri-La hotel (p60). DAY 5 THU Transfer to the station for your morning departure to Malaysia. Tonight enjoy a gastronomic dinner as you pull into Kuala Lumpur, where you may disembark for an evening stroll, before spending overnight on board. DAY 6 FRI After breakfast a short stop at Butterworth will be made to take a guided excursion to the colonial city of Georgetown, the capital of Penang. Continue north to Thailand. DAY 7 SAT On arrival at the renowned bridge over the River Kwai take a floating barge sail to view the surrounding scenery. Rejoin the train to Bangkok and transfer to a Standard riverview room at The Oriental (p46) for three nights. DAY 10 TUE Depart today by British Airways, arriving Heathrow the next day.
