Built in 1912, overlooking the famous Bay of Angels, and classified a National Historic Monument in 1974, the Hotel Negresco is one of the few remaining privately owned palaces in the world. Jeanne Augier, owner and chairman, has created a unique living museum; her desire to share her passion for art with her clients. Throughout this Leading Hotel of the World, epic periods in the history of France are represented, from the Renaissance to the current day. This privately owned Belle Époque palace is located between Monaco and Cannes on the seafront Promenade des Anglais in Nice overlooking the Bay of Angels. Five centuries of art and history rub shoulders: from the classical and historical paintings of the royal portraits in the Salon Louis XIV and Salon Royal to such contemporary artists as Moretti, Dali, Sosno, Gruau and Nike de Saint-Phalle. The Chantecler is one of the best restaurants in Nice with two Michelin stars. It is an enchantment to the eye and the palate alike. The gourmet cuisine is served in a dining room with Regency style decoration and magnificent XVIII century woodwork. The more casual Rotonde brasserie serves local specialities. You can relax in the charming décor of walnut wood panelling, velvet armchairs, soft lighting, tapestries and famous portraits in the English-style 'Relais' bar. With a pianist-singer every evening, this is undoubtedly one of the most attractive bars on the Côte d'Azur. The decoration of each of the 121 guest rooms has been inspired by the most outstanding periods of French art and history. Rooms have been individually decorated to reflect styles as different as Louis XIII and Art Deco. Madame Augier designs the rooms and her team of workmen and specialist craftsmen see that her ideas become reality. The most recent technology has not been forgotten and every room is equipped with airconditioning and LCD television sets. Garden and Seaview rooms are located overlooking the beautiful gardens while Deluxe seaview rooms are situated at the front of the hotel facing the sea.
