In the sleepy village of Megalohori on the island of Santorini you will find the Vedema Resort, with uneven stone walls, windy walkways, courtyards and arches, and whose brilliant white cubed houses with domed roofs built around a 400 year winery contrast against the deep blue sky soaring endlessly above. Just ten minutes from both the port and Fira town, and a short drive from Santorini's black sand beaches, Vedema is fortified within its own walls allowing peace, privacy and exclusivity for its very welcome visitors. Impeccable service is attentive yet unobtrusive. The 15th Century winery carved out of the rich Theran earth is now the Canava Wine Bar which offers a selection of wines from nearby vineyards and from international vintages, as well as wine tasting experiences daily. Adjacent is the Vinsanto Restaurant & Lounge with its dramatic vaulted ceilings and open-air dining terrace surrounded by black volcanic stones. Outside, The Pergola pool restaurant next to the tranquil turquoise pool affords wonderful views of picturesque Megalohori and is the venue for buffet breakfasts and a variety of both Greek specialities and light dishes served during the day. The Pool Bar and Jacuzzi Bar are conveniently located for providing cocktails and fresh juices for restful guests lazing in hammocks or sunbeds amongst the olive and pistachio trees. The Spa is designed in a minimalist Cycladic style and offers a range of therapies, and there is a fully equipped fitness centre, sauna and Turkish bath. A complimentary shuttle runs to and from Fira town and to the hotel's private beach facility which is around two miles away. All 45 villas in one, two or three bedroom white houses are decorated in pastel hues and simply furnished with typical island style. Each house features television, CD player, airconditioning, minibar, and a welcome basket of fruit and bottle of local Santorini wine. The Dorian Apartment features one bedroom with a separate living room and terrace or patio with views over the gardens. The Athenian Apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms with shower, living room and terrace with garden or sea views.
