HOTEL VILLA LA MASSA
This 16th Century Medicean Villa, found within a stones throw of Florence, sits on the banks of the Arno overlooking the wooded plains of Tuscany. The tranquillity and peace epitomise the noble country living experienced during the Renaissance period. Seasonal produce from the hotel's `jardin potager' and `chef garden' are served at the restaurant Il Verrocchio, an indoor dining-room with vaulted ceiling and a unique terrace overlooking the Arno River and Tuscan hills beyond. For lunch and dinner, menus offer a choice of both national and regional dishes, prepared with much talent and care. A menu and special amenities have been specially created for children - important guests for La Massa - satisfying their specific requirements. In the same spirit in which the original family home was intended, children are not forgotten. There is a heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis, walking, horse riding and golf are all available nearby, and visits to the local vineyards or to Florence with driver can be arranged. The hotel offers 35 rooms, each one unique and recently refurbished in traditional Florentine style. Accommodation is split between three villas the Noble Villa, the Old Mill and the Villino. The spacious and airy rooms are decorated with antique furniture, fabrics woven at the historic Florentine textile mills, wrought iron and woodwork from local artisans and the majority feature beautiful wooden ceilings. Bathrooms and their fittings are equally exquisite abound in carrara marble and most have windows framing the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Deluxe rooms house these features while Junior suites and Suites are more spacious. A private complimentary shuttle to Florence Ponte Vecchio is available during the day.
