Inspired by King Alfonso XIII's desire to build a luxury hotel to rival the Ritz in Paris, the truly luxurious Ritz is an Orient Express hotel and Leading Hotel of the World. The hotel's highly acclaimed Goya Restaurant offers a wide selection of Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine and is most definitely a place to see and be seen in a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. On Sunday's, Goya hosts the Ritz's famous Sunday brunch a generous buffet offering a wide variety of Spanish and International dishes. Traditional afternoon tea in the Velazquez bar should not be missed. In spring and summer the terrace and gardens are the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco lunch or to sample traditional Spanish tapas. The hotel has a wellness centre and sauna plus massages and facials can also be enjoyed. All 167 rooms and suites are elegantly appointed and individually designed with magnificent and unique handmade carpets, embroidered bed linen and antique furniture, combined with the latest technology of internet connections (wireless) and cable television. Bathrooms are beautifully appointed in marble with gilded accessories. Classic rooms have either courtyard or exterior views. Deluxe rooms are larger in size and have exterior views from the hotel.
