Lying 6,000 feet above sea level this remote hill station was discovered in 1885 by the British during the colonial rule of Malaysia. Travel today along mountain roads through tranquil rainforest and highland scenery en route to the Cameron Highlands. Arrive early afternoon at your choice of either medium class accommodation or as recommended by Kuoni, the Deluxe class Cameron Highlands Resort (see Day 4 on Malaysia's Finest for hotel details) and explore a little of this area at leisure. This evening you are free to dine in or out as you are left with free time to explore. I Day 2 Tue Wake early in the Highlands and take a morning visit to some local farms to experience local methods of farming. Continue your tour visiting flower gardens and tea plantations, enjoy the scenery en route. This afternoon and evening is free for you to explore at leisure. I Day 3 Wed Depart the Cameron Highlands this morning and choose to return to Kuala Lumpur, drive to Penang or transfer on to wherever you prefer. Alternatively extend to enjoy Taman Negara.

The 56 deluxe rooms are impeccably furnished to the highest levels and are fully equipped with minibar, television, seating area, four poster beds and large rain showers. I Day 6 This morning choose to drive to the west coast (approx 2½ hours) and take the 40 minute ferry ride to Pangkor Laut to relax at the beach in one of the world's most idyllic resorts (see p193 for hotel details and offers). Alternatively, for those seeking total relaxation on the unspoilt yet striking East coast, drive to Kuala Lumpur to fly onward to Tanjong Jara (see p192 for hotel details and offers). Enjoy six nights at the beach (or extend for longer if you prefer). I Day 12 Return to Kuala Lumpur, either by ferry and road from Pangkor Laut or by air from Tanjong Jara to connect with your overnight Malaysia Airlines flight to Heathrow arriving the following morning. Single supplement £80 2 extra days and nights I Day 3 Wed Depart Cameron Highlands and journey east to Jerantut and Malaysia's National Park Taman Negara. This national park covering 1,677 square miles is covered predominantly in pure virgin rainforest. Over 130 million years old this rare jungle and its flora and fauna is said to be one of the oldest in the world. Travel two hours by outboard motored canoe through the park and arrive at your accommodation late afternoon. Enjoy the evening at leisure in these delightful surroundings. I Day 4 Thu Activities for today include a walk amongst the Jungle canopy. Stretching 500 yards this manmade walkway gives an impression of the jungle from above. Travel along the Tahan river to Lata Berkoh and take a jungle trek to explore a little of the interior of the rainforest, enjoy a stop at the Lubok Simpon for a rest after your walk and perhaps choose to take a swim at this freshwater lake. Return to your hotel this afternoon and enjoy the sounds of the jungle by night. I Day 5 Fri Depart the jungle today and return to Kuala Tembeling where your private vehicle awaits. Transfer back to Kuala Lumpur for your onward journey or overnight stay.
