Luxor offers truly amazing sightseeing on the open-air stage of the west bank of the Nile. You may wander down the wide corniche that borders the Nile as it flows through Luxor, explore the famous temples of Karnak and Luxor, or bargain in the bazaars. With almost guaranteed sunshine year round and a superb dry heat, sunbathing is excellent and the sightseeing is quite unsurpassed anywhere in the world.

This famed first class hotel still retains the charm and character of yesteryear. Just across the road from the Nile, the historic Winter Palace lies in the centre of Luxor, close to Luxor Temple and the shops. In the lovely spacious gardens, lies the swimming pool with a restaurant and bar. The Old Wing has its own bar and restaurant and guests may use all the facilities in both the old and new wings of the hotel. Casual wear is restricted to the Garden Pavilion. Guests staying on half board basis in the Old Wing have a set menu dinner at Le Corniche restaurant and guests staying in the Pavilion Wing have a buffet dinner at La Bougainvillier restaurant. Jacket and tie is required in the 1886 restaurant in the Old Wing. Kuoni rooms are located in either the new 118 room Garden Pavilion wing, set in the gardens or the beautiful Old Wing where there are a total of 92 bedrooms. All rooms are airconditioned with bath, shower, telephone, television and minibar. Garden Pavilion rooms (PAV): with balcony and garden views. Old wing gardenview rooms (GV): with garden views. Old wing nileview rooms (NV): overlooking the corniche and the Nile. Deluxe nileview rooms (DNV): located in the old wing and elegantly furnished. A beautiful first class resort style hotel in a tranquil setting with all the sights a short drive away. A great oasis for longer stays in Luxor. The gardens are a lovely spot for soaking up some of the warm Luxor sunshine. Just a ten minute drive north of the centre of Luxor and five minutes from Karnak Temple is the Sofitel Karnak. Set amongst tranquil and extensive tropical gardens overlooking the Nile. Reflecting the architecture of the temples at Luxor and Karnak, the main building houses the main restaurant and bar. Further choices of bars and restaurants include a Nile front à la carte restaurant, poolside and a traditional shisha bar. A large swimming pool is located within view of the Nile. A spa complex offers a variety of treatments, sauna and massage, all available at an extra charge. The hotel also offers tennis and squash courts, a fitness centre and golf may also be arranged locally. All 351 rooms are located in low rise buildings set throughout the gardens and are airconditioned with minibar, telephone, television, shower, bath and terrace or balcony.
