Rio: 3 nights Iguaçu: 2 nights Manaus: 1 night Amazon Cruise: 4 nights I Day 1 Sun Fly TAM Brazilian Airlines from Heathrow via Sao Paulo, arriving Rio the following day. I Day 2 Mon Arrive into Rio and transfer to the JW Marriott for your next three nights. B. I Day 3 Tue to Day 4 Wed Two days to explore this magnificent city and its famous sights. B. I Day 5 Thu to Day 6 Fri Fly south to the mighty Iguaçu falls. Two nights at the Sheraton Iguazu hotel located within the National Park on the Argentine side of the falls. B. I Day 7 Sat Fly via Sao Paulo to the jungle city of Manaus, set deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Overnight at the Tropical Manaus. B. I Day 9 Sun At leisure to enjoy the city of Manaus before an evening embarkation and set sail as the sun sets over the jungle. In the evening the captain hosts an introductory cocktail party.
I Day 10 Mon Arrive at Novo Airao where it is possible to see botos, the pink river dolphins that inhabit this part of the Amazon. Continue to Lago Aracari where there is the opportunity to take a photo safari in one of the tender boats and also the option to fish for piranhas. After dinner you may decide to join the expedition to look for alligators along the banks of the river. I Day 11 Tue Visit Rio Puduari, an area rich in bromeliads and wild orchids and best known for its variety of birdlife, including colourful macaws and other parrots. The afternoon excursion will take you to Igarape Aturia, where you will see many unusual plants used in traditional medicines. I Day 12 Wed Learn a little more about life in the Amazon visiting the isolated Cambebas Community. I Day 13 Thu Pass through the meeting of the waters, where the River Negro and River Solimoes merge, on route to Manaus where you disembark. Afternoon flight from Manaus via Sao Paulo to Heathrow on TAM Brazilian Airlines, arriving the following day. Alternatively extend your stay to any of our beach destinations (see p438-439).
