DAY 9 ² After breakfast a long day begins with a drive to Bharatpur stopping en route to see the perfectly preserved deserted Mughal city of Fatephur Sikri. On arrival in Bharatpur, have lunch (at additional cost) at the Bagh. Originally a charbagh or four-part garden, it has been home to one of Bharatpurs noblest families for centuries, and is today a delightful small heritage hotel. After lunch continue by road to Ranthambore National Park and the Ranthambore Regency for two nights (185 miles, approx. 8 hours). DAY 10 ² Ranthambore National Park boasts one of the countrys leading tiger conservation efforts and is renowned as one of the best parks in India to spot this elusive animal. You may be lucky enough during your morning and early evening safaris in open top canters into the park. In addition to leopards, tigers, look out for crocodiles and over 300 species of birds. This evening enjoy a discussion on the tiger with a local naturalist. DAY 11 TO DAY 12 ² Morning at leisure before driving to Jaipur, the Pink City built in 1728 and capital of Rajasthan for two nights at The Trident, Jaipur. Later enjoy leisure time to wander the many bazaars at your own pace (112 miles, approx. 4 hours). Drive out of Jaipur and visit the ancient imposing Amber Fort. In the afternoon return to Jaipur and the Royal Observatory and Maharajahs Palace, an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, and the unique Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds). DAY 13 TO DAY 14 ² An early morning flight to Cochin via Mumbai. Transfer to The Trident for two nights with an afternoon at leisure. In the evening relax or take an optional visit to a traditional Kathakali dance show. Enjoy a morning city tour of Cochin, reputed to be the oldest European settlement in India. Your leisurely tour includes the Dutch Palace, the Jew Town, Mattancherry Palace, St. Francis church, the historic Fort Cochin harbour area and stop to view the immense Chinese fishing nets. In the afternoon take a walk through the local market.

PRIVATE GAME DRIVES º Jeeps in Ranthambore: Game
drives in Ranthambore are in open top canters. Shared jeeps of up to six adults can be arranged at a supplement of £12 per person per drive up to two months in advance, subject to availability.
DAY 15 ² This morning drive to the wildlife reserve of Lake Periyar through some of Indias most stunning scenery. Arrive at the hotel Elephant Court hotel for a one night stay. This afternoon enjoy a leisurely cruise on Lake Periyar within the Periyar National Park and perhaps spot Indian elephants, bison and wonderful exotic birds (125 miles, approx. 6 hours). DAY 16 TO DAY 17 ² Take a scenic drive to Kumarakom and the Backwater Ripples hotel where you will have time to relax and enjoy your surroundings. The following day board a traditional Keralan houseboat for a cruise along the backwaters. Return to your hotel where a, traditional Ayurvedic head massage has been included, the perfect relaxing end to a comprehensive tour of Indias most fascinating sights. This evening you will enjoy a farewell dinner. DAY 18 ² Early morning departure for your Jet Airways flight via Mumbai arriving Heathrow later the same day.

DAY 22 ² Transfer to the airport for your SriLankan Airlines flight via Colombo arriving Heathrow later the same day.
