The Jute Works
Traidcraft sourced its very rst products from Jute Works and they featured in the rstever catalogue. A registered charitable trust, The Jute Works was established in 1973 to rehabilitate war-widowed and war-affected poor, rural women of Bangladesh. Although still working with womens groups, they are now working more widely with family and community businesses, and aim to work with marginalised people and in remote areas. Bangladesh Tour Prole

Adjiver Bangladesh
Since the birth of the fair trade organization Prabartana in 1986, Shahid Hussain Shamim and his colleagues have been assisting fabric producers and organic farmers to get a fair deal. Their sister organisation Ajiyer was set up in 2002 to give visitors an opportunity to learn about Bangladeshi culture, crafts and biodiversity from the people. A fabric designer himself, Shamim is Vice President of the National Crafts Council of Bangladesh.
