Peru
A rich itinerary that explores the diverse culture and natural beauty of Peru! From the capital Lima, we travel up into the Andes and along the sacred valley of the Incas to the famous wonder of the world, Machu Picchu. We will visit coffee farmers who supply Cafédirect in the cloud forest before passing through the High Andes to spend time with Allpa weavers and ceramic potters. Arriving by train to Lake Titicaca, we will stay in the homes of Minka craft producers on Taquile Island before visiting their marginalised urban development projects on our return to Lima.

Minka
Minka is a non-prot organisation working with native communities in the poorest regions of Peru. A major objective is to ensure that a fair price is paid for traditional hand-knitted garments. It sells and provides other support and training for producer groups in many areas including hand knitters around Juliaca and in Puno, a ceramics group and a group which make musical instruments.
