This exciting journey through Thailand's southern peninsula is for those looking for a more active insight into this beautiful country. We will visit artisan communities who make a wide variety of traditional crafts, baskets, tiedyed fabrics, silverware, shadow puppets and coconut carvings.

ThaiCraft
ThaiCraft is a fair trade marketing organisation which was established in 1992 to work with artisan groups, help them gain self-reliance and preserve Thailand's indigenous crafts crafts. Although originally assisting these groups to sell their crafts to local markets only, ThaiCraft has been keen to expand into export markets as well. Traidcraft has been an important trading partner providing them with their rst export orders and helping them in design development. Southern Thailand Tour Prole

We visit the tropical highlands where we stay two nights in a village. The more adventurous among us may walk into the mountains, while others can relax in the nearby fruit orchards, try their hand at vegetable-dyeing or learn about local herbal remedies and lotions. On the coast we experience life in a typical shing community and spend some time relaxing on a palm-lined tropical beach. Moving along the coast we venture through lagoons on a one-day sea canoe journey. We then move on to nd out how after the tsunami, survivors have rebuilt their lives, through a visit to craft groups born out of the tragedy.
