Prior to heading for the mountains, most competent skiers and snowboarders tend to play a recurring vision in their minds. Blue sky, crisp mountain air, blankets of freshly fallen snow and mile after mile of fantastic terrain all feature heavily in these pleasant daydreams. Of course, in the dream, the skier or boarder conquers every run with panache and style, floating down the longest and steepest runs with minimum effort and a massive smile on their face.
