ItInerary 22 December London/Venice Fly to Venice and transfer to your hotel for a five-night stay. This evening enjoy a welcome drink at your hotel before dinner at a local restaurant, with wine, water and coffee included. 23 December Venice Discover the major sights and hidden backwaters of this exceptional city with our included guided sightseeing tour. We leave the hotel on foot and stroll to the Frari Church, an impressive Gothic church that houses a number of masterpieces by Titian and Giovanni Bellini's Madonna and Child. From here we proceed to the unmistakable Rialto Bridge and the heart of Venice, St Mark's Square, where you will find the wonderful Doges' Palace and the towering Campanile. This evening we enjoy an included recital of baroque music in one of the city's beautiful churches or palaces. chrIstmas eVe Islands of the Venetian Lagoon This morning you will have the chance to join an optional excursion to the islands of the Venetian lagoon, including Murano, well-known for its delicate glass, and Burano, famous for its handmade lace. We take lunch in a typical Venetian restaurant on Burano. Tonight we experience an authentic Venetian evening, with an aperitif in St Mark's Square followed by a fourcourse dinner at a nearby restaurant. There will also be an opportunity for you to attend Midnight Mass in one of the city's main churches, should you wish. chrIstmas Day Venetian Villa Celebrate Christmas Day with our very special lunch in a traditional villa in the Venetian countryside. On our return to Venice the rest of the day is free for you to spend at leisure. bOXInG Day Padua & the riviera del brenta Today our optional excursion takes you to Padua, a city founded in Roman times and an important university seat since the 13th century. There are many fine Renaissance buildings including Il Santo, the Basilica di San Antonio with its beautifully decorated chapels and shrine. This afternoon we travel along the Riviera del Brenta the Road of the Doges where the patrician families of Venice built their summer villas, around a hundred of which can still be seen. 27 December Venice/London Transfer to the airport for your homeward flight. yOUr hOteL residenza cannaregio (4-star), 5 nights (2 nights half board, 3 nights bed and breakfast). Your hotel was originally a 17th-century monastery and is situated close to the Campo del Ghetto Novo, a fascinating walk from the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. There is a courtyard garden, restaurant, bar and comfortable guest rooms with minibar and satellite TV. There is no lift but all rooms are on the ground or first floor.
