ItInErary 21 DECEMBEr London/Gosau Fly to Munich and transfer to your hotel in Gosau where you will be greeted with a welcome drink and dinner. Gosau is a stunning winter resort. The paths around the village offer wonderful scenic walks and there is also the opportunity to enjoy sleigh rides and traditional snow-shoe walks. 22 DECEMBEr Salzburg Today we enjoy an included visit to Salzburg. Encircled by mountains and dominated by the Hohensalzburg Fortress, this is the city of Mozart, magnificent palaces and splendid baroque buildings. A tour with a local guide will show us the highlights and there'll be free time for you to make your own discoveries. Visit Mozart's birthplace; stroll down the famous Getreidegasse, the city's mediaeval main street; and shop for local crafts and seasonal delicacies in the Christmas markets. 23 DECEMBEr Lake Wolfgang Today you can join an optional visit to Lake Wolfgang. The lake is surrounded by idyllic villages, not least St Wolfgang itself. The village is the home of the famous White Horse Inn, the inspiration for the musical of the same name, as well as a beautiful church. We take a boat trip across the lake to visit the village of St Gilgen, where you will have time to enjoy the atmosphere and wander through the festive markets. CHrIStMaS EVE Gosau & Sleigh ride Today you are free to discover the attractions in and around Gosau - why not take a ride on a mountain gondola and enjoy some spectacular views? After time for lunch we include a memorable sleigh ride through the wintry landscape to really get us into the Christmas spirit. This evening we enjoy a traditional Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel. CHrIStMaS Day Salzkammergut Our Christmas Day includes a scenic tour through the Salzkammergut Austria's Lake District. This spectacular region is home to many delightful villages, as you will discover. We call at Hallstatt, a picturesque lakeside village, and Mondsee, a wonderful town with the Basilica of St Martin at its heart. We also visit Gmunden, famed for the lakeside Castle Ort. Back at the hotel this evening we enjoy a festive dinner complete with live music. BOXInG Day Berchtesgaden At the foot of the Watzmann mountain in Bavaria you will find the town of Berchtesgaden. We have included a visit to this delightful town, with its traditional houses, enchanting churches and Royal Palace. Our return journey features a stop at the Konigssee. This glacial lake is the deepest in Germany and surrounded by steep slopes, reflected in the serene waters. 27 DECEMBEr Gosau/London This morning we transfer to Munich airport for the homeward flight.
