Join us as we cruise to the northernmost reaches of the European Continent, to the Land of the Midnight Sun. We encounter the dramatic scenery of the Norwegian coast, discover breathtakingly beautiful fjords and reach the North Cape itself at the time of the Summer Solstice a once-in-alifetime opportunity.
ITINERARY DAY 1 Tuesday 17 June Harwich Join the Ocean Majesty at Harwich in time for our 1630 sailing. DAYS 2 & 3 Cruising Make the most of two relaxing days at sea to get to know the ship and your fellow passengers. The on-board team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and the daily programme will inform you of the many activities taking place. DAY 4 Lofoten Islands Our first port of call is Leknes, situated on Vestvagoy, the largest of the Lofoten Islands, whose rugged beauty, craggy peaks and soaring cliffs provide the ideal nesting ground for an abundance of birdlife. Join a shore excursion to the picturesque village of Nusfjord and the Vestvagoy Fishing Museum, which demonstrates how fishermen lived many years ago. DAY 5 The North Cape We reach Honningsvag this evening and disembark for our shore excursion to the northernmost frontier of Europe. To spend the Summer Solstice at the North Cape is a rare opportunity indeed and youll feel as though you are on top of the world as you stand on the 300-metrehigh cliffs and gaze out at the vast expanse of Arctic Ocean as the Midnight Sun casts a blaze of colour over the horizon. We return to the Ocean Majesty to sail past the North Cape and look up at the sheer magnificence of the cliffs. DAY 6 Alta Despite being situated in Finnmark, Norways northernmost county, Alta has a surprisingly warm summer climate and the surrounding area is rich in forest and vegetation. Shore excursions include a visit to Hjemmeluft, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of rock carvings that are believed to be 2,500 years old. There is also an excursion to the Tirpitz War Museum, which houses exhibits and information on World War IIs largest battleship. DAY 7 Tromso Situated on the forest-covered island of Troms, Tromso is a delightful mix of traditional wooden houses and striking modern architecture. Arctic Norways cultural and commercial hub, it is home to the worlds northernmost university and brewery. Shore excursions include a city tour and a visit to a Husky camp. DAY 8 Cruising Spend some time on deck today and keep your eyes open for the amazing wildlife of the region. Look out for whales if youre lucky you may see one of these marvellous creatures spouting. DAY 9 Alesund Devastated by a fire in 1904, Alesund was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style with colourful, extravagantly decorated facades, spires and turrets that give this lively fishing community an
