ITINERARY DAY 1 UK/Esposende We fly to Oporto and transfer to Esposende, a delightful fishing village in an idyllic setting. We stay here for four nights. Throughout our carefully designed itinerary you will be accompanied by your knowledgeable Tour Guide, who will be on hand to offer any guidance you require. We also have official guides in Santiago and Oporto to ensure that you get the best from your Page & Moy experience. DAY 2 Oporto Today you can enjoy your surroundings on an included full-day excursion to Oporto, the famous port wine city built along the scenic gorges of the River Douro. We will tour a port lodge and enjoy a tasting. DAY 3 Viana do Castelo & Ponte de Lima Today's optional excursion begins with a visit to Viana do Castelo, once a historic fishing port and now an elegant city. We then continue to Ponte de Lima, a charming small town. DAY 4 Barcelos & Braga Today we take an included excursion to Barcelos, an attractive town famous for its weekly market in the huge town square, and for its distinctive brown pottery. We continue to Braga, founded by the Romans in 279 BC and now the religious capital of Portugal. DAY 5 Caminha, Valenca do Minho & La Toja We drive through delightful countryside to the quiet riverside port of Caminha and the quaint border town of Valenca do Minho before crossing the border into Galicia and La Toja, one of the region's most elegant resorts, where we stay for four nights. DAY 6 Santiago de Compostela Following in the footsteps of countless pilgrims over the centuries, we visit the fascinating mediaeval city of Santiago de Compostela. DAY 7 Ria de Arousa Boat Trip & Aquarium We visit the acclaimed Aquarium today, which highlights the varied Atlantic marine life found off the coast of Galicia. We then enjoy a cruise by glass-bottomed boat on the Ria de Arousa. DAY 8 Pontevedra Today you can relax or join our optional excursion to Pontevedra, a typically Galician town. This evening we enjoy a special farewell dinner with a Galician pipe band and rounded off with the potent local liqueur, Queimada. DAY 9 La Toja/UK We return to the airport for the homeward flight.
