ITINERARY DAY 1 UK/Opatija Fly to Ljubljana, where our Tour Guide will be waiting to greet you, ready for the transfer to the unspoilt Croatian Riviera and the beautiful resort of Opatija, situated between lush green hills and the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic. You stay for seven nights on a half board basis in your choice of hotel. Dinner on two evenings will be taken in local restaurants in order to sample a variety of the excellent regional cuisine. DAYS 2 � 7 Opatija In a beautiful sheltered bay of the Kvarner Riviera, Opatija has been a fashionable holiday destination since the days of the AustroHungarian Empire. It's a lively and exciting resort with an attractive coastal promenade and a wonderful range of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. The Tour Guide will be on hand to help you make the most of your time and there's a host of excursions for you to choose from to make sure you don't miss a thing. Included excursions: Opatija & Moscenice Draga (half day) A guided walk around Opatija introduces us to the town before we continue to the village of Moscenice Draga for a tasting of the local grappa and a walk through the mediaeval streets in the company of the mayor. Island of Krk (full day) Today we travel the coastal road and the new bridge across to Krk, the largest island in the Adriatic. Visit the Fransciscan monastery and museum hidden away on its own little island, and try out the local specialities of `golden' wine, smoked ham and sheep's cheese. Optional excursions: Plitvice Lakes (full day) A day of stunning scenery awaits as we discover Croatia's oldest national park by boat, train and on foot. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it contains 16 extraordinarily beautiful lakes, their turquoise waters connected by dramatic waterfalls and cascades. Istria (full day) Get a flavour of the Istrian Peninsula with visits to Pula, an ancient city dominated by its huge Roman amphitheatre; and picturesque Rovinj, a charming resort of narrow streets, squares and welcoming cafes overlooking the colourful fishing harbour and marina. Lunch is included in a typical Istrian restaurant. Opatija Riviera by boat (half day) Relax on board and enjoy stunning views of Opatija and the Riviera as we cruise along the coast. DAY 8 Opatija/UK Transfer to Ljubljana airport for the homeward flight.
