Ocean Cruise Information The following information is a general guide for ocean cruise holidays.
Shore excursions All excursions offered are optional and are pre-bookable or available to book on board. These are not included in the price of your holiday and will usually be priced in sterling or Euros. Currency Most cruise lines operate a no cash policy on board. You will sign for any drinks and shopping purchases on board and then your final bill can be settled on the final morning of your cruise by major credit card, travellers cheques or cash. Its worth carrying a small amount of local currency for immediate expenses at your destination and for any minor purchases you make at your ports of call. Please note: It is usual for a 10-15% service charge to be added to bar charges and dining room drinks purchases. Gratuities These are usually added to your on-board account automatically. Sometimes you can adjust these up or down, depending on the level of service you have received. Dining Please specify your preference of sitting and also preferred table size at the time of booking. What to take with you For your general guidance, lightweight casual clothing is ideal for daytime wear and comfortable walking shoes are recommended for shore excursions. Depending on your choice of holiday we also suggest you take light rain wear, sunglasses, sun hat or visor, sun protection cream, mosquito repellent and perhaps a pair of binoculars. Most cruises feature at least one Gala Night during the cruise, where gentlemen usually wear jacket and tie, lounge suite or formal wear if desired. On other nights smart casual wear is acceptable.
