DAY DESTINATION ARRIVE DEPART
Magnificent glaciers, thundering waterfalls, the vibrant Hanseatic city of Bergen and fjord scenery on a scale unsurpassed anywhere in the world these are the highlights of this amazing nine-day cruise around Norway.
ItInerary Day 1 Harwich Join the ship in Harwich and settle in before our 1630 sailing. Day 2 Cruising Perhaps enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning as we sail north. During the day pamper yourself in the beauty salon; join one of the port lectures to learn about the fascinating places well be visiting; and join new found friends for afternoon tea. Day 3 Olden The charming village of Olden is idyllically situated at the top of the innermost arm of Nordfjord, an inlet almost 65 miles long, cut deep into the coastline. As the village nestles in the valley, the towering peaks of the surrounding mountains reflect in the deep green waters of the fjord. Just beyond the village, with its 18th-century cruciform church, lie the tranquil waters of Oldenvatn, one of the most beautiful glacial lakes in Norway. The lake is fed by the Jostedals Glacier, a vast ice-plateau that shimmers between the mountain peaks. Waterfalls cascade down into the lake, making a truly inspiring landscape. A short distance away is the Briksdal Glacier, which can be visited on our shore excursion. Day 4 Molde & andalsnes Molde stands in a pretty location in the shadow of snow-capped mountains on the northern shores of Moldefjord. Gardens flourish in its mild climate, earning the town its nickname, the Town of Roses. Well worth a visit is the outdoor museum with reconstructed rural buildings and folklore displays. Andalsnes is situated at the head of the spectacular Romdalsfjord, in a picturesque location between mountains and the clear waters of the fjord. Perhaps join our excursion by steam train through the stunning mountain scenery. Day 5 Bergen Situated between a group of mountains known collectively as de Syv Fjell, the seven mountains, Bergen is Norways second city and has successfully retained its small-town charm and atmosphere. The most popular area is the Bryggen, the Hanseatic quarter, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now houses many fascinating little shops and galleries. A short distance from the Bryggen is the colourful fish and flower market, a hive of activity. Shore excursions available include a city tour and a ride on the funicular train to enjoy panoramic views of the city; a scenic tour of the area surrounding Bergen; and a visit to Troldhaugen, the place where the famous Norwegian composer, Edvard Grieg, lived and worked for 22 years. Day 6 Ulvik & eidfjord The picturesque village of Ulvik has been receiving tourists for over 150 years. It lies at the centre of Norways largest fruit growing district, surrounded by hillside apple and cherry orchards, which in turn are backed by snow-capped mountains. Excursions include a fantastic overland tour to Eidfjord, taking in the spectacular scenery of the area by coach and train. Those not taking the excursion can stay on board and sail on to Eidfjord, located on the innermost part of the Hardangerfjord, the Queen of the Norwegian Fjords. Behind the village are strange sand and gravel terraces, legacies of the inland glacier that melted some 9,000 years ago. Join an optional excursion to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre or the Sima Powerplant, both of which provide the opportunity to walk down to a viewing platform over the Voringfoss Waterfall, which thunders 600 feet into the canyon below. Day 7 Jondal Prepare for more breathtaking Norwegian scenery today as we reach Jondal, on the southern side of the beautiful Hardangerfjord. This small
