Explore chic Italian resorts and tiny villages that cling to the precipitous cliffs and discover a rich Roman heritage and the unforgiving force of nature in Pompeii. Sail out to idyllic Capri and stroll along the orange and lemon tree-lined streets of Sorrento.
ITInERARY DAY 1 UK/Amalfi We fly to Naples and transfer to Amalfi for our seven-night stay on a half board basis. We are pleased to offer you a choice of two hotels. DAYS 2 7 The Amalfi Coast Amalfi is a charming town. At the heart of the town is the main square, overlooked by the wonderful cathedral. Take a stroll along the cobbled lanes that radiate from the piazza, lined with charming shops selling local specialities. Join our included excursion during your stay: Ravello (half day) Our journey takes us along the famed Amalfi Drive, winding precariously along the sheer cliff tops through pretty towns and past breathtaking scenery. Ravello enjoys a stunning setting, suspended 350 metres above the sea. Stroll through the village to the glorious gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo. To see more of this beautiful area, an inspiring choice of optional excursions will also be available: Capri (full day) We journey by boat across the Bay of Naples to the beautiful island of Capri. Wander through the maze of whitewashed houses in the delightful village of Anacapri, and visit the Villa San Michele for spectacular views. Pompeii & Sorrento (full day) Take a glimpse into Roman life in 1st-century Italy in Pompeii, the city enveloped by ash when Vesuvius erupted in AD 79. We continue to Sorrento, a delightful resort standing on a dramatic line of 150-foot cliffs looking out over the Bay of Naples. Cruise to Positano (half day) We take to the water today and enjoy a trip by boat to the exclusive resort of Positano. Well be treated to spectacular views of the coastline en route, as the approach to the town is truly beautiful. Paestum (¾ day) Founded in the 7th century BC by the Greeks, Paestum expressed its power in the building of three massive Doric temples, and our excursion offers the chance to visit their graceful ruins. its neighbour Pompeii, Herculaneum is considered the most evocative of Italys archaeological sites. Well find superbly preserved houses decorated with fine mosaics and frescoes, all covered by the eruption of Vesuvius and now painstakingly excavated. DAY 8 Amalfi/UK We return to Naples airport for the homeward flight. YOUR HOTEL 7 nights half board Hotel la Bussola (3-star) Situated right on the seafront, and just a 100-metre stroll from both Amalfis main square and the pretty shingle beach, this charming hotel offers a bar, restaurant, lounge and roof garden. Rooms with sea-views and air-conditioning are available, please see supplements (those rooms that do not offer sea views have very limited rock-facing views). Hotel Miramalfi (4-star) This delightful hotel is set in a stunning position clinging to the cliffs overlooking the sea and boasts magnificent views of Amalfi and the coastline. Take the lift to the swimming pool, spectacularly cut into the rocks just above the sea, from where you can enjoy wonderful views. Other facilities include a bar, lounge and restaurant on the top floor affording magnificent views. All rooms are sea facing with air-conditioning and either a terrace or balcony. A ten-minute steep walk downhill brings you to the centre of Amalfi.
