From the stunning city of St Petersburg to the country's capital Moscow, we discover historic towns, ancient monasteries and magnificent scenery. ITINERARY DAY 1 UK ­ St Petersburg We depart for St Petersburg and on arrival transfer to the ship. We moor here for three nights. DAY 2 St Petersburg An included morning city tour introduces us to the highlights of this stately city of Baroque palaces, elaborate cathedrals and grand avenues. We see St Isaac's Cathedral and Nevsky Prospect, and visit the magnificent Peter & Paul Fortress. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before taking a trip to the Winter Palace and the worldfamous Hermitage Museum. This is one of the world's greatest art galleries, home to some two million works of art. Your evening will include a performance of Russian ballet or opera before dinner on board. DAY 3 St Petersburg Today's tour takes us to the former summer resort of Russian aristocracy at Pushkin. We visit the Imperial Catherine Palace, built in flamboyant Baroque style with an amazing 300metre-long blue and gold facade. The rest of the day is your own to explore St Petersburg further, or you can take an optional canal cruise through the city. This coastal palace boasts nearly 200 beautiful fountains and French Gothic interiors. It was founded by Emperor Peter the Great early in the 18th century.
