Mediaeval towns and sweeping landscapes provide an alluring backdrop for sailing down the Rhine canal and Danube, through the world heritage city of Bamberg, numerous towns and historic Nuremberg.
ITINERARY DAY 1 UK - Passau Fly from a choice of airports to Munich and transfer to Passau a pretty town at the confluence of three rivers the Danube, the inn and the ilz, to join serenade i. DAY 2 Regensburg & Riedenburg arrive in regensburg this morning and enjoy an optional walking tour of this ancient city exploring its fine buildings, mediaeval town centre and striking 13thcentury cathedral. Perhaps join the optional tour to Weltenburg, the finest baroque monastery church in germany, spectacularly located on a bend of the Danube. We sail again after lunch en route to nuremburg. DAY 3 Nuremburg arrive in nuremburg at lunchtime and disembark for an optional excursion. The gothic church of st lawrence is a striking symbol of the citys glorious past. Those wishing to relax can stay on board serenade i. We sail for bamberg this evening. DAY 4 Bamberg This mornings optional tour goes to the residenz and the cathedral, and there is free time to enjoy bambergs many shops. after reboarding, we sail to schweinfurt and arrive in the evening. DAY 5 Gerlachshausen We sail early for gerlachshausen. Today there is an optional full-day tour, to the pretty mediaeval town of rothenburg. We disembark at gerlachshausen and meet the ship at Wurzburg. DAY 6 Wertheim & Miltenberg explore Wertheim this morning before cruising again at midday. later we arrive at Miltenberg and discover the towns historic sights, including the mediaeval half-timbered houses. DAY 7 Aschaffenburg & Frankfurt We arrive at aschaffenburg in the morning. There is an optional excursion to schloss Johannisburg, a splendid laterenaissance palace. leaving at midday, we arrive in Frankfurt before dinner.
