ITALY TO THE ADRIATIC Grand Dalmatian Tour 11 days from £1299 Dubrovnik Dubrovnik " Visit 4 countries " Includes Sarajevo, Mostar, Plitvice, Lake Bled, Dubrovnik and more " A unique mix of stunning countryside and historic sites Look out over the tranquil waters of Lake Bled, wander through the history-steeped streets of delightful Dubrovnik, uncover ancient Roman remains in Split and witness awe-inspiring scenery in the Plitvice National Park& this is a superb tour of Croatia and its neighbouring countries. ITINERARY DAY 1 UK/Zagreb We fly to Zagreb in Croatia and transfer to our city hotel for a two-night stay. DAY 2 Bled & Ljubljana This morning we head across the border into Slovenia to visit beautiful Lake Bled, surrounded by the peaks of the Julian Alps, which are reflected in its serene waters. Here we visit the castle, standing on a hill above the town. It has its origins in the Middle Ages and today serves as a museum with interesting displays on the history of both Bled and the castle itself. There will be some free time  perhaps take an optional boat trip to Bled island, picturesquely sited in the middle of the lake. Here you can see the lovely Church of the Assumption, a symbol of the area. Alternatively, visit the lush green Vintgar Gorge, carved by the Radovna river. We continue to Ljubljana, Slovenias capital, nestled beneath its castle. This charming city curves along the edge of the River Ljubljanica and is focused around the Old Town. Here we find colourful houses crowded around lively squares, sumptuous churches and cooling fountains. We enjoy a sightseeing tour in the company of a local guide before returning to Zagreb. DAY 3 Zagreb & Sarajevo A morning guided tour of Zagreb takes us to both the upper and lower parts of the town. The thousand-year-old upper area is home to the Presidential Palace, the Parliament building and a maze of cobbled streets with historic churches and museums. The much newer lower town plays host to many restaurants, theatres, shops and cafes. Later we drive through beautiful countryside into Bosnia Herzegovina and its historic capital, Sarajevo, where we spend two nights. DAY 4 Sarajevo This morning a local guide will join us for a tour of this proud city. Many peoples have lived here over time, each leaving their mark in the citys architecture and culture. Also included is a visit to the Tunnel Museum. For four long years this was the only way in and out of the city for the locals. The afternoon is free. You may like to take a stroll through the lovely Botanical Gardens or along Coppersmith Street, or visit the stately Orthodox Cathedral. DAY 5 Mostar & Dubrovnik Today we depart for Croatia and Dubrovnik, stopping en route in Mostar, named after its graceful curved bridge. We enjoy a brief sightseeing tour before continuing to Dubrovnik and the comfortable Hotel President, where we stay for three nights on a bed and breakfast basis. DAY 6 Dubrovnik A local guide joins us for a tour of Dubrovnik, the Pearl of the Adriatic. The city boasts a remarkable history, once rivalling Venice in status. The appealing Old Town dates to the 13th century and is remarkably unchanged.
