Take a spectacular journey on the Cisalpino tilting train from Switzerlands stunning Lake Geneva into Italy. Enjoy the Renaissance city of Florence and the timeless landscapes and mediaeval towns of Tuscany before boarding the Eurostar Italia to discover the delights of ancient Rome  this is a great rail journey youll never forget. ITINERARY DAY 1 UK/Lausanne We board the Eurostar service from London St Pancras to Paris this morning. Standard class travel is included, but if you prefer to travel First Class, with a meal and drinks served on board, upgrades are available. From Paris, a high-speed TGV takes us to Lausanne on the shores of Lake Geneva, where we stay overnight. DAY 2 Florence From Lausanne we take the Cisalpino tilting train to Milan. This journey takes us along the shores of Lake Geneva, through the Rhone Valley and under the Alps into Italy. We continue on the high-speed Eurostar Italia service to Florence, where we stay for the next four nights. Two evening meals are included in local restaurants, leaving you free to choose your venue for the other two evenings. DAY 3 Florence To help you get your bearings in this truly remarkable city we have included a guided walking tour this morning. Highlights include the magnificent cathedral, topped by the terracotta-tiled dome that dominates the skyline; the vast bronze doors of the baptistery, designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti; and the impressive Piazza della Signoria, bustling with activity and bordered on one side by the magnificent Uffizi Gallery. The afternoon is free to make your own discoveries. Perhaps head for the Ponte Vecchio, which crosses the River Arno, or take a walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo, where you can enjoy views over the whole city. DAY 4 Siena & San Gimignano Our full-day excursion takes us to the hilltop city of Siena where twisting streets and narrow staircases wind their way under mediaeval arches and tall crenellated towers. We see the striking Renaissance cathedral, majestically clad in black and white marble, and the fan-shaped Piazza del Campo. We then continue to San Gimignano, with beautiful palaces and church towers, ornate frescoes and a fine baptistery within its ancient walls. DAY 5 Lucca by Train Today we take the local train (only standard class seats available) to the pretty town of Lucca, one of Tuscanys unexplored treasures, its mediaeval lanes and piazzas enclosed by impressive stone ramparts. A gentle walk along these walls offers views over the many palaces, churches and pretty squares. DAY 6 Florence to Rome Its all aboard the Eurostar Italia this morning as we leave Florence for Rome, a journey of over 200 miles in just over 90 minutes. On arrival we transfer to our hotel for a three-night stay. After lunch at the hotel, a coach tour introduces us to some of the capital citys impressive sights, including the ancient Colosseum and Circus Maximus.
