ITINERARY DAY 1 UK/Golfo degli Aranci We fly to Olbia and transfer to the Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro on the Golfo degli Aranci, located on the north east of the island on a peninsula near Olbia and close to the famous Costa Smeralda, where we stay for four nights. DAY 2 The Emerald Coast Today we take an optional tour of the Costa Smeralda, a beautiful strip of coastline that was bought by the Aga Khan in the 1960s. We enjoy the views of the rugged rock formations and tiny inlets that line the coast before visiting the sophisticated village of Porto Cervo, a haven for the rich and famous and full of opulent designer shops and discreet luxury hotels. DAY 3 Nuoro & Orgosolo Todays included excursion heads south to Nuoro to visit the fascinating Ethnographic Museum, a comprehensive collection of Sardinian jewellery, masks, carpets, local costumes and handicrafts. We then continue to Orgosolo for lunch with the shepherds, who are an integral part of the character of Sardinia. DAY 4 Golfo degli Aranci The day is free for you to relax and explore further. Why not join our fantastic boat trip to visit the islands and archipelago of the Madalena, an ideal way to fully appreciate the beauty of the rugged Sardinian coastline? DAY 5 Corsica Today we take the ferry crossing to the French island of Corsica and enjoy some time in the pretty port of Bonifacio. Set on the islands southernmost point, the old town lies within the walls of the citadel atop stunning white cliffs. Houses adorned with pointed arches and arcades line a maze of narrow shady streets. We then continue to the Hotel Marinca near Propriano in the south-west of the island, where we stay for three nights. DAY 6 Ajaccio Todays optional excursion takes us to the southwest of the island to one of Corsicas capital towns, Ajaccio, famous as the birthplace of that most illustrious Frenchman, Napoleon. Monuments to the great leader are to be found throughout the town - on horseback in the Place de Gaulle, guarded by stone lions in the Place Marechal-Foch, and elsewhere, in classic pose and bicorne hat. At his birthplace, the Maison Bonaparte, a collection of art and artefacts recalls his life. The towns other attractions include the 15th-century cathedral and the Fesch Museum, home to an impressive collection of Italian art. You will have some free time here, perhaps absorb Ajaccios true flavour and take a stroll along the main shopping street to the picturesque Old Town and join the Corsicans at one of the al fresco cafes, just watching the world go by. DAY 7 Filitosa & Sartene  The Heart of Corsica Today we offer you the chance to join our wonderful optional excursion to Filitosa, the islands famous prehistoric site. Situated on a hill overlooking the Tavaro valley, the site was discovered in 1946 and features a collection of impressive menhirs and megaliths.
