Welcome to a land of spectacularly diverse scenery as we journey from the rugged Cape Peninsula along the spectacular Garden Route. The rivers, mountain passes, lagoons and beaches of this natural paradise skirting the Indian Ocean will hold you spellbound.
ITINERARY DAYS 1 & 2 UK/Cape Town We take the overnight flight to Cape Town and meet our Tour Guide on arrival. We enjoy a brief sightseeing tour of the city, including a visit to Table Mountain, en route to our hotel, where a welcome drinks reception will be waiting for us. DAY 3 The Cape Peninsula Our full day tour of the spectacular Cape Peninsula takes us past Sea Point, Camps Bay and the famous beaches of Clifton and Llandudno towards Hout Bay. We visit the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve to take in the famous view of False Bay and take the funicular railway up to the scenic Cape Point viewpoint. From here we drive along the Indian Ocean coastline to Boulders Beach to sit among the colony of Jackass Penguins, followed by a visit to the naval port of Simon's Town, where you can buy lunch at one of the scenic harbour restaurants. We return to Cape Town and the hotel late this afternoon. DAY 4 Kirstenbosch & the Winelands After breakfast we visit the world-famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, before continuing into the Winelands. We spend time in the town of Stellenbosch, rich in history and home to some of the most beautiful 18thcentury Cape Dutch architecture; before continuing to Paarl, with its imposing Afrikaans Taal Monument. This afternoon we enjoy a wine tasting en route to Franschhoek, a beautiful town founded by the French Huguenots over 400 years ago. DAY 5 Knysna We leave Cape Town this morning and take the scenic journey to Knysna via the coastal town of Hermanus and historic Swellendam. We spend three nights at our hotel. DAY 6 Knysna Spend this morning at leisure enjoying the nearby waterfront before a cruise on the Knysna Lagoon this afternoon. We board a ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve on the far side of the lagoon where an all-terrain vehicle will take us to the top of the cliffs for spectacular views over the town's natural lagoon, the Outenique Mountains and the ocean. DAY 7 Oudtshoorn The heart of Africa's ostrich farming industry, Oudtshoorn was founded on the wealth of ostrich feathers and whilst here we will enjoy a tour of an ostrich farm and take a guided tour of the Cango Caves, with some of the largest stalagmites and stalagtites in the world. DAY 8 Tsitsikamma Forest & Port Elizabeth We travel eastwards to Tsitsikamma Forest, an untouched natural area characterised by dramatic gorges and dense forest, where giant yellowwood trees soar skywards, thriving in the sub-tropical climate. We stop at the suspension bridge over the Storms River en route and this afternoon continue to Port Elizabeth and our hotel for the final night. DAYS 9 & 10 Port Elizabeth/UK Enjoy some free time this morning in Port Elizabeth before transferring to the airport for this afternoon's flight to Johannesburg and overnight flight to the UK.
