· The Great Barrier Reef · Ayers Rock · Explore Sydney · Delightful Singapore
Stopover in bustling Singapore then discover the wonders of Australia on this holiday of a lifetime. Enjoy the delights of Cairns, snorkel over the Great Barrier Reef, catch the sunset at Ayers Rock, explore cosmopolitan Sydney and much more.
ITINERARY DAYS 1 & 2 UK/Singapore We fly overnight to Singapore, arriving in the evening of Day 2, then transfer to our centrally located hotel for a two night stay. DAY 3 Singapore One of the most dynamic cities in the world, Singapore is at first glance all gleaming high-rises and glamorous shopping malls. Beneath this dynamic surface, you will find that Singapore's traditional past can still be seen, from the shop-houses of Chinatown, to incense-scented temples and, of course, reminders of the colonial days such as the legendary Raffles Hotel. We include a half-day city tour. DAY 4 Singapore/Cairns Today we offer the chance to see a different side of Singapore, with an optional tour to Sentosa Island. The island was heavily fortified by the British in World War II, and later captured by the Japanese. Today it is a beautiful destination and a popular holiday resort whose very name means `tranquillity'. Later today we fly overnight to Cairns via Sydney and transfer to our hotel for a five-night stay. DAY 5 Cairns Arrive in Cairns and transfer to your hotel for a five night stay. The vibrant tropical city of Cairns is the perfect place to relax, soak up some sun and enjoy the superb facilities of our resort hotel. DAY 6 The Great Barrier Reef Cairns is also the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and today we'll cruise by catamaran across the clear tranquil waters of the Pacific to idyllic Green Island on the inner Great Barrier Reef. We take a glass-bottomed boat trip over the multi-coloured corals, swim in the translucent waters and, if you're feeling more adventurous, go snorkelling on the reef. DAY 7 Kuranda & the Atherton Tablelands Explore inland today as we board the 100-year-old Kuranda Scenic Railway for a meandering journey through rainforests and past waterfalls to the former tin-mining town of Kuranda. We then tour the Atherton Tablelands, a rich agricultural district marked by extinct volcanoes, lakes and gorges, and take a gentle cruise on Lake Barrine. DAYS 8 & 9 Cairns You're free to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cairns. DAY 10 Ayers Rock (Uluru) Today we fly to Ayers Rock, now more often known by its traditional name Uluru, for a desert adventure in the Red Centre. Take a walk around the 1,000-foot-high sandstone monolith, visit the Aboriginal waterholes and rock paintings at its base, and see the ever-changing colours and deepening shadows as the sunset glows fiery red on the rock. DAY 11 Ayers Rock, the Olgas & Kings Canyon It's an early start for us this morning to see the almost spiritual spectacle of sunrise at Uluru. After breakfast, we visit the mysterious red rock domes of the Olgas and continue across the outback to Kings Canyon, a desert oasis in an area of wild and rugged beauty. A guided walk along the boulder-strewn canyon floor shows us the curious rock formations.
