DAY 10 Cu Chi Tunnels & Ho Chi Minh We tour through the countryside to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing network of tunnels, command centres and underground bunkers, said to have concealed 10,000 Viet Cong troops during the turbulent war years. Later, continue your exploration of the city, visiting Notre Dame Cathedral, the colonial Central Post Office, City Hall and the Opera House. DAY 11 Dalat Travel north to Dalat, a city in the Vietnamese Highlands. On the way we stop at the majestic Pongour waterfalls. Dalat, known as the `City of Eternal Spring', has been a popular hill resort since the early 1900s. We stay in Dalat for two nights. DAY 12 Dalat A leisurely day's sightseeing awaits as we drive through the town, where many of the homes are built to resemble wooden Alpine chalets. We then visit the Lat village, home to the Lat hill tribe, the region's original inhabitants; the Linh Phoung pagoda; King Baodai's Palace; and the Crazy House, inspired by the architecture of Gaudi. DAY 13 Phan Thiet Today we return to the coast and Phan Thiet, a thriving fishing port. With its beautiful white sandy beaches where local fishermen mend their nets, and towering coconut palms, it's a lovely spot to relax. Our hotel for two nights is the Victoria Phan Thiet Resort. DAY 14 Phan Thiet Another day to explore this idyllic setting. See the ever-changing Mui Ne sand dunes and the nearby natural harbour fishing village. Rang Beach is probably the most beautiful beach in Phan Thiet. It is described by the locals as the beach that is nestled in the middle of a coconut palm forest. Other landmarks in the area of Rang beach are Da Ong Dia (boulders of the Earth God), and Suoi Tien (celestial stream). DAY 15 Siem Reap We return to Ho Chi Minh City for the flight to Siem Reap in northern Cambodia, our gateway to the huge and imposing royal city of Angkor, its ruins hidden by the Cambodian jungle for more than half a millennium. The city is one of the greatest archeological wonders in the world. We stay here for three nights. DAY 16 Angkor Thom & Angkor Wat We begin our exploration in Angkor Thom, visiting the Bayon Temple and the Terraces of the Leper King and Elephants. We'll also see Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious complex, and the temple of Suryavarman 11, a powerful 12th-century king. The highlight of the tour is watching the sun set over Angkor Wat. In the evening we enjoy a taste of local cuisine and culture with a dinner and Khmer dance performance. DAY 17 Siem Reap Temples For a different view of Angkor, we explore some of the less well-known temples, including the great Buddhist temple of Ta Prohm, constructed in 1186 and surrounded by jungle. DAYS 18 & 19 Siem Reap/UK Fly overnight via Kuala Lumpur to the UK.
